Marti Randolph was so close to her Grandma Rose that, when the bottom fell out of her world, the first place she wanted to be was with her head in her beloved grandmother’s lap. Marti’s parents were missionaries in South America and Marti had lived with her Grandma Rose all through high school. When her whole world fell apart in Houston, she quickly headed to her small hometown.

When she first met Jim Bowman, she had no idea he was the Pastor James of Living Word Community Church where her Grandma Rose attended church. He was just as surprised to see her because he was unaware she was to visit. He knew she had some issues, but no idea what they were. He didn’t know that Marti had quit her job, sold her condo, and loaded everything into her red BMW, named Ruby, and hurried home.

Marti was in love with her boss and expected him to marry her. Imagine her surprise after they had been intimate that he was already married. The rumors arrived in her small hometown ahead of her. She felt she would never be able to trust men enough to marry and have a family.

This novel is the first published by Ms. Carla Rossi, but I don’t expect it will be her last. This initial offering is definitely a winner. Her characters were a 30-year-old single pastor and a Christian young woman who had always been an active member of that church until her move to Houston. She came home humiliated and, by some, branded. This author has done an incredible job of creating her major players, as well as the secondary characters, into believable people. Grandma Rose was a typical granny whom we would all cherish.

One of the most gripping parts of this storyline was near the end when Grandma Rose was explaining people who walk in Limited Light. What a pivotal part! This is a poignant look at human error and God’s forgiveness. I shed tears, laughed, got irritated but never wanted to quit reading. The book is phenomenal and I highly recommend it.
