| The Instrument compares the sex act, from foreplay to orgasm, to playing an instrument.
At the Head of the Class is Mr. Holly, giving a special class on the "art of giving fellatio." As a rule, he is strictly hands-off …………until he meets Ruth! Pussywhipped is a story about a man who, after a break-up, has erectile dysfunction! He sees a therapist who, after much discussion, lets him know what the problem is. He's in love!!! Then we find out it was a dream? Coming In My Back Door is a woman "writing in her journal" and explaining that her husband-to-be wants anal sex and she's terrified, listing her reasons, but she wants to because she loves him and wants to be the best he's ever had! Lipstick tells the story of best friends Stephanie and Karla. Stephanie suffered a two year break-up and Karla helped her get over the shock of it…..in a most unusual way! Stephanie isn't real sure how she feels about this until it happens again and again…all weekend. What will happen now? Footsie is a short story of a female psychologist lamenting the end of a relationship with a man who has a foot fetish and how it took her months to really miss him! The Spatula is the short story of a Thursday night ritual for a couple that includes….yes, a spatula, actually two spatulas and a bowl of ice!! The September 11th Story was one of the better stories in the book. It tells how September 11th changed the outlook of a couple who had been sex partners for years and decided they wanted commitment. A Natural Progression tells the story of a woman and her tale of the progression of her sexual appetite, from monogamy in her teens and twenties, to her conclusion that she is a sexual freak! Right On Schedule tells the story of a man who lives by his watch. Friday night is laundry night and "phone sex" night! This is a collection of short stories that explores all types of sexuality. Unfortunately it falls short! The writing is choppy in places and I didn't feel any emotion at all in the writing. Without the emotion, I couldn't care about the characters. It took me an unbelievably long time to read this book. In good conscience, I can't recommend this book. It's a shame because the book has potential.
