| Anastasia 'Ana' Burton has been assigned to review cold cases after a job in Rome for the CIA ended in disaster. Her boss and co-workers seem as cold as the cases she's working until she's almost killed by a sniper. It seems someone feels she's making too much progress tracking down an art fraud that involves some vicious murders. Gates Bromley, friend and assistant to one of the rich art owners who had their work stolen and forged, seems to be interested in more than helping her solve the case. As their romance heats up so do the attacks against them.
Jeanne Adams pens a suspense that has frequent twists and turns. She keeps us guessing about several parts of the complex mystery that reaches across the US and possibly into Europe. So many aren't who they appear to be but Ana seems to be able to figure them out with intelligence and intuition. She's much more than just a token woman in the CIA as she proves frequently with her skills. The good guys in this tale are easy to like. Ana's best friend, Jen, seems immune to the serious side of life but seems like one of those people we need in our lives. Davros Gianikopolis is one of the richest men in the world but he earned it the hard way, honestly, so he's easy to like. The romance between Ana and Gates has ups and downs that make it seem like reality in the midst of all the mayhem. There's action on every page that drives it on. This is one of those books a reader probably won't want to put down.
