| Twelve years ago, Haley's family was emotionally destroyed by the disappearance of her oldest sister, Michelle, never knowing what happened to her. Now Michelle's body has been found and the prime suspect, though never convicted, is back in town bringing to the surface the emotional turmoil she's managed to suppress. When it becomes apparent that she's being stalked, Hayley tentatively puts her trust in Dean.
Dean has spent years gathering evidence to clear his name. Though no evidence was found to convict him, he left town under a cloud of suspicion with everyone believing he killed Michelle. Now her body has been found, he's back, and ready to hand over that evidence. Together as they unravel the multitude of lies and mystery that surround the night Michelle disappeared, they become lovers. But someone is determined to stop them, at all costs, threatening their budding romance. Living Lies by Dawn Brown is, I believe, her debut novel. She masterfully weaves a tale of mystery and suspense and I shall be watching this author very closely for future releases. She clearly has a lot of talent for writing a thoroughly gripping mystery that is oozing with tension. Living Lies is filled with enough twists and turns to keep the reader on their toes and on the edge of their seats as the story unfolds. She has the reader reeling with the intensity of the emotions that Haley and her family feel as a direct result of that night and as the truth is revealed. The relationship between Haley and Dean follows a natural progression, leading to highly sensual love scenes. The bickering between Haley and her siblings is realistic and adds to the story. Even her heartbroken mother, who has clearly lost it from losing one of her children. But what I didn't envision while reading this novel, was 'who done it' nor the motive. It surprised me immensely. I loved it. Well done, Dawn.
