Caitleen O’Neal had two choices - she could either marry Drake Hammond, the scoundrel her dad lost her to in a poker game or become a Baptist mail-order bride. Deciding that marriage to a stranger would be better than being married to Drake, Caitleen runs away to Montana to marry a man named Jed Peters.

Once she arrives in Lonesome, Montana Caitleen is met by Jed Peters, the most handsome man she has ever seen. Caitleen is immediately drawn to Jed but she can’t understand his rude behavior. The harder she tries to please him the worse his temper seemed to get.

Jed could not believe this woman was a mail-order bride. When he received the telegram to pick her up he was expecting someone older, and definitely not this beautiful. As Jed and Caitleen begin their journey back to the ranch Jed finds himself falling in love with Caitleen. Knowing that it is wrong but not being able to help himself, Jed shares a night of passion with Caitleen. Now Jed is in a really bad mood and Caitleen is really confused. Will she ever be able to please her soon to be husband?

Once they arrive at the family ranch "Heatherfield", Caitleen soon learns the reason behind Jed’s bad mood. Nothing is as she thought and things keep getting stranger. Jed and Caitleen will have to learn to trust each other and let go of the past to move on with their future.

I strongly recommend LONESOME BRIDE to anyone who loves a great romance. The chemistry between Jed and Caitleen was so strong it left me breathless. With a great group of secondary characters and a story I could not put down Megan Hart has created a story that is definitely a keeper...
