| Christina Edmund is a healer, so when the only place she has ever known as home is attacked she works to heal the injured. But when the conqueror turns out to be the notorious Lord Renault Brandon, she is stunned. Someone known as such names as the Murder of Moscow, the Sorrow of Sicily, and the Horror of Hamburg should not be so handsome, nor should he show kindness to the people he just conquered. Quickly she finds herself wondering how she can be falling in love with a man known by so many horrible names? And how can the handsome, Lord Brandon be the same man of all the terrible rumors?
Ms. Garland has written a good story. I found it to be very interesting with intriguing characters. Christina and Renault were both strong and believable. However, if there was one thing that bothered me in the story it was the repetitive use of all Lord Brandon’s horrible names. Although, I did not find it to detract overly much from an otherwise well written story. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good historical love story.
