| Felicity has tried everything to find her one and only. When an online dating service finds her to be unmatchable, it's the final straw. After a night of drinking, she decides to do her own tarot reading with her aunt's special tarot cards, and makes a wish for her perfect match. She awakens to find herself in the arms of that very man, William Rollo. To her shock, her perfect man lives in the Seventeenth Century Highlands. How can a modern woman survive in a time when witchcraft is punishable by death and sword fights are common?
William Rollo is simply trying to save his friend, when he finds a very drunk, beauty passed out in his escape boat. Against the suggestions of his friend, he takes the girl with him. He finds himself attracted to her, but knows someone with her looks could never want someone damaged, like him. Veronica Wolff has a way of drawing the reader into her stories, of putting them right there in the action. And this one is no different. She paints a vivid picture of the beauty of the Highlands in the seventeenth century, as well as the danger. I loved Felicity from the beginning. She is vulnerable and scared, but at the same time she handles everything that is thrown at her with strength and good humor. Rollo is the perfect, imperfect hero. He is every woman's dream man, even with his physical impairment he is a true warrior. With Rollo's strength and patience and Felicity's constant questions, this is a story that has it all: adventure, betrayal, and even a little witchcraft. These two very different, colorful characters, along with Rollo's unusual group of friends and family, truly make this a book worth reading. With everything against them and hundreds of years between them, this is a story that could answer the question, can love truly conquer all? I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an exceptional read, by an exceptional writer.
