Lady Danae learns on her father's deathbed that she is not his real daughter, although he always loved her as if she were his own. Her father also warns Danae that he will no longer be able to shield her from her cousin, Harique, who intends to make Danae a slave once her father passes away. Danae quickly goes to sea to get the protection of the Egyptian king. A soldier named Ramtat boards the ship Danae is on and unsettles her. When the kind turns her away , Danae flees again only this time into the arms of a sheik who turns out to be Ramtat. Danae becomes Ramtat's "prisoner" and he in turns becomes enchanted with her wanting only to love her. When Danae is accused of being part of a plot to kill Queen Cleopatra, Ramtat must uncover who is planning on harming the queen and framing Danae.

Those who are intrigued by the Egyptian genre will enjoy this fantastic, history-packed novel. The hero, Ramtat, is a bit cold in the beginning, but will win readers over when he falls in love with Danae. Danae's job as an animal trainer is a nice twist on the typical female heroine. The connection between Ramtat and Danae is felt from the minute they lay eyes on one another. Their plight to uncover plots against them, Queen Cleopatra, political intrigue and suspense will entice many readers to keep the pages turning. I recommend this book to those who like their historical romance filled with interesting characters, historical facts and love.
