| Niki has an extraordinary gift; she has the power to heal. Because of her special gift she can never stay in one place long and fears what people will do if they look too closely. Then one night all hell breaks loose, literally. Niki suddenly realizes that there is more in the world than just magic and for some reason it's after her. She also finds a man named Tryton who knows what's going on and wants to protect Niki from the evil that hunts her. Will he be able to keep Niki safe and teach her how to control her gift?
Tryton has become tired of his life and fears he will never find love. No one really knows of his past and he has no intention of telling anyone about it. Then he gets a message to help save a woman named Niki. On first sight Tryton knows there is something different about her and has a demanding need to claim her as his own mate. He knows Niki will be afraid of everything he has to reveal to her, but in order to keep her safe he must reveal all he knows. Will she stay with him in the end? This book is incredible and I loved reading it. From page one the plot of the story pulls you in and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Tryton is definitely a man with an alpha attitude and believes of taking care of what's his. Niki is used to taking care of herself and taking orders from anyone is against her nature, especially an arrogant man like Tryton. This is the fifth book in the Horde Wars series and you don't have to read the others to understand what's going on. But if you do you get all the background information and a better understanding of what's happening. The entire series is going on my keeper shelf and Sherri L. King has done it again with this great story that not only crosses the paranormal line, but also crosses the racial line without making it the entire basis of the story. I greatly look forward to Sherri L. King's next book.
