Emily goes to visit the man who gave her a chance at a better life. When she arrives she finds him dead from an apparent suicide. Even more shocking is the man that seems to appear out of nowhere and tells her that the man she loved like a father was the head of an art theft ring. Because she is his assistant she will automatically be made an accomplice. Afraid of what will happen, Emily runs to the only person who can help her. If she can stay hidden maybe she can figure out just what she's gotten herself into.

Steve is shocked when Emily shows up shaking, pale and asking for a job. He helps her the only way he knows how, by making her his mechanic. The fact that he wanted to sleep with her might have influenced his thinking just a bit. He knows something is terribly wrong and intends to find out what haunts Emily. Even though she is fighting hard to keep him at a distance, Steve is determined to break through her defenses.

This story starts off a little slow, but picks up as it moves on. Steve is convincing himself that he is helping Emily for her own sake, in reality it's because he wants her in his bed. Emily tries to be strong against Steve's seductive comment, but as in every romance gives in eventually. Ronnie, Steve's partner and the mystery of Emily's past, makes the story even more interesting. There's a case to solve and Emily has to prove her innocence. One thing I can say about this book is that it will definitely keep you on your toes.
