Joan Poynton Ferguson meets Daniel Childress, an American, during the war but she soon learns that he has died in a plane crash right after take off. They were in love and intended to be married. With child, she is hurt deeply knowing that Dan will never see their unborn child. John Ferguson who is her primary physician steps in and asks her to marry him. He loves her but knows that she will never feel the same amount of love for him but she must think of the baby. Joan decides to marry John even though their love will never be as special as the love she shared with Dan. John makes a good husband to Joan and a great dad to son, Johnny, until tragedy befalls. Now four months later after the European war has been over she learns that Dan is alive. Shocked and surprised, she was told it was just a necessary wartime measure for her sake and his that the fabrication had to be made known. Now all these years later she is able to confront Dan but there are secrets still buried in her heart during her stages of the war as well. He knows nothing about his son, Johnny, and when he learns the news about her past, she wonders if Dan will understand.

Lost and Found is a remarkable romance that spins around a wartime era showing how people were often separated and times were often filled with sorrow or death. It is a story of struggle, devotion, love and remarkable strength. Joan and Dan were just two pawns in a plan with disregard to anyone’s feelings. Frederica Currie pens a magnificent tale that touched this reader completely. I could practically feel all the characters emotions as they tried to endure a troubled time. John’s character, as well as Joan and Dan’s were so genuine. This believable story is remarkably extraordinary and created with such care like a precious ornament never to be broken as it shows how true love when tested can last through the good and the worse of times.
