| Lorien Hudson’s day is not off to a good start. Upset by her indifferent boyfriend, irritated with her unsympathetic girlfriend, she drives in the pouring rain to check out a new realty listing under boss’s orders. Inspecting for storm damage she turns a corner and is pulled into a world she could not understand.
Aurora Jamison’s Lost Lore travels from the mundane into a mysterious and magical world where all is not as it seems. Her heroine is captured by twining vines, rescued by a hunky hero (even if he is a human-turned-centaur-turned-human), misted in Aphrodisiac dust, mistaken for a powerful sorceress, harangued by a talking snake, providing entertainment for a bored demon, and nipple-pierced by a magical gold ring…just another average day. I chuckled as Lorien tried to explain the “modern” world to persons (for want of a more general description) who were far more used to, and comfortable with, magic. I shook my head at the descriptive and accurate fashion Ms. Jamison has of describing the male tendency to think with their lower brain rather than their thinking brain. This was an entertaining and erotic tale of mistaken identity, good hopefully overcoming evil (the author did sneakily leave that as a “hmmm” question mark), love winning out over need (gotta get me some of those seeds!), of right overcoming might. There were some rough spots, and a few inconsistencies, but I have seen the same in many brick-and-mortar publications. The story may have teeter-tottered and sometimes lost it traction, but was consistently well written and fun. The sexual antics and playfulness that flowed between the two main characters was hot and sensual, leaving me with the yearning for my very own supply of morda seeds. Wonder what kind of soil they need... A definite read again. Can’t wait for her follow-up tale of daring adventure. Please…
