| In Spring, Texas, 2007, Christina Ramos contemplated the death of her husband of fifty-two years. She tried to mourn Ismael just as she tried to love him for the last fifty years. But Christina never forgot her first and only love, Joe Morado. Deep in her closet were hidden photos of her brief time with Joe. She retrieved the photos and took them outside to view when suddenly she falls into Stockton, Texas at the time when she was eighteen and before her marriage to Ismael. She had a second chance to start over.
The first time around Christina was under the thumb of her tyrannical mother and a passive father. Now, though she's eighteen again, she has almost seventy years of living, so she has a little more backbone. Christina was able to change things to her advantage and to find out secrets she never knew. I like the idea of a second chance, some regret you can go back to change. But then again, you would change your whole destiny good or bad? The story was centered mostly around the main characters, but there was very few minor characters and the background was sketchy. It is an interesting aspect of a time-travel romance though and I enjoyed it.
