Shania Miller has loved Morgan Hardwick even though she was engaged to his best friend. Fortunately, her engagement is called off and she is now a free woman. Unfortunately, she doesn't work up the courage to tell Morgan of her feelings until it's too late. Shania has to decide what to do with her life and how to move on without the love of her life. Or will she? Morgan's not ready to throw in the towel and is ready and willing to fight for Shania's heart. Will love triumph overall? Or will they discover that love hurts?

I really enjoyed this book as it was a very sweet and comforting read. The characters gave the impression of stock characters as there was little growth in their development. However, it should be noted that the plot gave little opportunity for the characters to develop into more interesting characters. The main complaint I have regarding the book is that there is a very intriguing back story in surrounding the main character which is only relayed in flashbacks or in passing. I think the purpose was to demonstrate character growth but it felt that it failed. I believe that the story would have benefited from having the back story as the beginning of the book and then developing the subsequent book. The beginning as written was somewhat awkward as the reader comes into the story behind. There were no plot twists, surprises, or suspense in the story which caused it to move somewhat slow-paced. Additionally, the sexual aspects of the story were suitable to the story. It was not graphic or steamy but rather sensual and consistent with the characters.

I believe that there were certain portions of the book that could have been better. Nevertheless, the story was quite simple and predictable but it still kept me engaged and desiring to continue reading. Overall, I really enjoyed the book and found it a decent afternoon read.
