Rebecca Carson had lived in New York for the last twelve years. When her father's brother died, his home, Emma Springs Station, a cattle station in Australia, had been left to her. She hadn't been back since there was a big mess and her young boyfriend took the blame for something he didn't do. The last time she saw him he was arrested and taken to jail. She betrayed him, but it had been twelve years. That should be enough time for him to forgive her. After all, she was just a young kid—barely fifteen years old. She decided that, since he wanted to purchase her land, she would go back to see him and ask for forgiveness before they signed the papers.

Hunter Kincaid, owner of Mandaljara Station in the Northern Territory of Australia, had finally decided to marry. His demanding fiancée, Amanda Jackson, insisted that the ring be put upon her finger in front of Bekka. She staked her territory in the middle of his mother's birthday party. Because of his honoured commitment to Amanda, Hunter couldn't have, if he wanted to, gotten out of the marriage. He refused to forgive Bekka so it didn't matter who he married and when, right?

Ms. Romona Hilliger has written a great story about the Outback of Australia. She not only created interesting characters. Her descriptions of the area were enough to make me want to visit. Her characters were strong and independent. They were so appealing that I couldn't help but feel involved. I couldn't wait to see what happened next. The connection of these two was told in such a way that it captivated me and kept me involved.

This book had well-developed characters, both major and minor. They had a past filled with hurt and conflict which was captivating to read and watch develop. I really liked this book and recommend it to others. I will be sure to look for this author again.
