| Twelve years is a long time to hold a grudge, but when you are 18 and/or 15, maybe the resentment is more deeply felt. Becky Carson had loved Hunter Kincaid forever, it seemed. While living in her late father’s estate with her Aunt Amy for the past twelve years, Becky was traveling back to Australia to sign the papers to sell her Uncle Howard’s mansion to Hunter; she prayed that she would be able to receive Hunter’s forgiveness for not speaking up when she knew that he had not stolen a painting for which he was arrested.
There were circumstances Hunter did not know about Becky, but he knew enough to know that he would never, ever forgive her for not speaking up. When Becky got to Australia, Hunter was almost engaged to wed Amanda, their childhood enemy. Their formal announcement was held at a party for his mother’s birthday after Becky had come to visit! Could it get any more embarrassing? Come, Love Me Again is a phrase in a song which, twelve years ago, had been regarded as their song! Becky could not ever hear the song without reminiscing about their sweet teenaged love! The innocence of their young love was evidenced by the fact that they had only shared one kiss; now the memory of their time together was tainted! Ms. Romona Hilliger does an incredible job of mixing the present with the feelings they shared 12 years ago. Even when it seems that Hunter might forgive her, his integrity demands that he still honor his commitment to Amanda. Ms. Hilliger shows the highs and lows of Becky’s feelings and then she ties them in with Hunter’s sense of honesty. He feels that he proposed and should not withdraw the proposal as long as she has done nothing wrong. Come, Love Me Again is a beautiful work of art which is so interesting I was simply spellbound! I submit that anyone, no matter the favored genre, will love this work. I look forward to reading more by Ms. Hilliger!
