Mariah DeSilva, a dancer at a strip club, has had a hard life when it comes to men. Her dad was never in her life, her mother’s boyfriends were not father material, and her ex-boyfriend tried to kill her. To say she was a little wary of the opposite sex is an understatement. Her best friend, Twyla, is her alter ego, and one of the few people she truly loves more than her own life.

Mariah is attacked by a 7ft tall androgynous demon. Stephan comes to her rescue and ends up causing more of a problem; he accidentally sets a prophesy in motion that he did not even know existed. Twyla is kidnapped by Freeze on accident. Mariah will do anything to bring Twyla back and Stephan will do anything to make Mariah happy.

The writing duo that makes up Ashleigh Raine really did an outstanding job on Lover’s Talisman. They found an intriguing combination of action, science fiction, magic, and suspense. Stephan is the leader, but each Shadow Walker is different and compelling. Mariah and Twyla are so brilliantly written that they jump off the page and become your friends. Freeze is so enigmatic that he is just a perfect addition to the story. And the evil villain Craze is just that, a true evil person with no remorse and totally unredeemable, but his story is fantastic. This is a multi-layered adventure that has something for everyone. I highly recommend this book; it is a fun filled roller coaster ride with laughter and nail biting suspense.
