| Kianna Sanderson is down on her luck after her dreams and plans for the future are crashed. Doa Zhi is a successful businessman who's at the end of his rope after another personal assistant leaves without proper notice. Their worlds collide when Kianna applies for the position in hopes that this will allow her to recapture her dream. Will Kianna's chance at achieving her dreams develop into the happy future she didn't realize she wanted?
Originally, the story intrigued me with the interracial aspect and the potential interactions of diverse cultures that generally occur in those types of stories. However, the story seem to focused only on aspects of Chinese culture. I cannot decide if this was due to the fact that Kianna was immature and difficult to connect with or that the focus of the story was learning about Chinese culture. I enjoyed learning those aspects regarding Chinese culture but I did not enjoy the vessel by which she conveyed this knowledge. Another problem I had with the story was its pacing and plot. There was very little plot to move the story along. While it may have been the author's intent for the story to focus on the emotional aspects of the story, it was not well done. The characters did not change or develop as a result of their relationship. Kianna has little personality with only the occasional hint of an interesting spark. Dao comes across as a mature and family orientated individual which made his interactions with Kianna unbelievable. Therefore, their dialogue was not convincing due to that conflict. I would have enjoyed more conflict, plot and character development in the story. Nonetheless, if you enjoy the type of story where the characters seem to fall in love at first sight, this might be the story for you.
