Miranda Raines and her five year old son have been living peacefully in Oxford, England since Scotland Yard DCI David French put her ex-husband away in prison for murder. Unfortunately he has escaped and David shows up to take them into hiding. But someone in the British police hierarchy must be a mole because they barely escape in time. David must now flee across Europe with Miranda and Jamie without any help from the police. Can David keep them all alive and who can he trust to help them?

Love on the Run is full of suspense and intrigue. Everywhere David and Miranda turn her ex-husband seems to be able to find them. Someone who they should have been able to trust has betrayed them. Then in the midst of all of this turmoil and danger both Miranda and David discover they have feelings for each other but it couldn’t be worse timing. I found the story a little far fetched but it is fiction! I liked the characters of Miranda and David and I loved Jamie but I had trouble believing in the story. I also really like a number of the secondary characters too. I just wished there had been a little longer build up to the relationship and romance somehow it didn’t quite convince me. Plus the police department comes across as crooked and inept. Why isn’t someone catching this escaped murderer? He is even in contact with his family; wouldn’t someone be watching them to see if he turned up? The murderer seems to possess all advantages, he has money, connections, a criminal network, and David and Miranda seem to have nothing but their brains. On the whole it is a good story and entertaining enough that I would choose to read the sequel. I hope that a sequel can clean up the corruption of the police department and give the good guys some advantages too!
