Nick Bartok and his partner Matt Kerry had been traveling in space for two months searching for planets that had oil. As scientists it was their job to get data from soil samples, catalog it, and then take it back to the World Organization where it was determined if it was feasible to travel that far and how profitable it would be. There was never enough oil to distribute amongst the thirty-seven nations. As they landed on their destination planet, they immediately prepared and secured the ship then went to explore. 'Ah,' Nick thought that it was great to breathe fresh air into his lungs. He was damn tired of that recirculated air they had been breathing for two whole months! Nick and Matt settled on a place near a lake to have lunch. While Matt dozed, Nick thought that he had seen a beautiful girl, but when he looked again she had disappeared! Nick and Matt went to the site she had vanished from but there was no evidence of her being there. As Nick and Matt settled in the ship for sleep, Nick dreamt of the girl. When they got up to explore the planet the next morning, the mystery woman met them in the road! Nick was taken aback when he looked into her eyes and it seemed that he could understand her words when her lips were not moving!

Tom Molnar is a poet among poets. He will have you weeping for the fictional characters in short stories, poems, and novella. Mr. Molnar includes ten of these in his book and most of the ten had no ending so I made my own. The Bridestar novella was awesome and I swiftly read to the end, only to be let down again, as there was no conclusion! In further research of his work, I am pleased to know that a sequel is on the horizon. I will let you know that his short stories were about people thinking that they were odd, yet looking for that someone that make them whole--from a Mexican man denying his heritage, to a witch in training, to old high school classmates reuniting. The best by far was the novella: Bridestar!
