Shannon K. Butcher again gives us a thriller that will have us on the edge of our seats throughout. Character building is superb as is the dialogue that helps drive the story. Trent and Elise have to plumb the depths of their heart and soul to keep on track as the chase gets more and more macabre. Elise has been searching the world for a perfect story to make her career as a free lance reporter. Trent has given up police work after a freak accident. Drawn into investigating again, he has to rethink his life choices with the help of Elise and his friends. ,p> The circle of characters who help make the tale complete help prove Ms. Butcher has few equals when it comes to crime stories that seem to be set into a piece of the real world. Scenarios come alive as individuals fall prey to the evil around them. For a vicious psychopath, Maitland seems to pull it together whenever he has to. This is not a tale for the squeamish because the author's attention to detail involves bringing alive what is done to victims. Shannon K. Butcher is one of the best at building tales that aren't easily forgotten.
