Gabriel Lopez has come from an abusive home. His drunken father had beaten him almost every day, blaming him for his mother's death. Jade was never beaten. Her mother used verbal abuse to try to control her daughters. Both of them have dragged their history into their marriage. Finally Jade has had enough and leaves Gabriel to give them both time to find themselves. The journey to self discovery is a rocky one.

Jordan Grace has chosen a volatile subject for her first book! The characters are as complex as the subject itself. In this instance it seems that the couple may be able to put their past to rest and move on because they love one another. That isn't always the case in spousal abuse so the solution the author has chosen won't work for everyone. She gives us Maggie and her husband Ernesto who have seen the other side where couples aren't able leave abuse behind. They give Jade some excellent advice. I think Ms. Grace has taken a hopeful approach set into a well crafted storyline touched with suspense and a villain who will probably surprise you.
