| Lola Chiasson doesn’t like her life. She lives in a small town which she dreams of one day leaving for the big city and an existence she imagines will be full of excitement and purpose. One person stands in her way, Marcus Boudreaux. Marcus and Lola have a love/hate relationship, one that hides their simmering passion for one another. Lola, however, is not about to give Marcus the upper hand by admitting her attraction for him and Marcus is thoroughly determined to make Lola realize that they are perfect for each other.
I enjoyed reading Lena Matthews’ Loving Lola. The heroine is a spunky plus sized woman who is on the verge of making the potentially life changing decision of leaving the town she grew up in for the big city. It was easy to identify with Lola’s angst and dissatisfaction with her life. Marcus is also a likeable hero with a delicious accent and a body made for sin. While I did like Loving Lola, I found the story to be a bit too predictable. I have read similar stories where the main characters have a love/hate relationship and eventually admit their attraction to each other and act on it. There was no question of if, only how Lola and Marcus would get together and perhaps how naughty they would be together once they finally gave in to their desire. Ms. Matthews did do a great job of building sexual tension between the characters and the sex between them was muy, muy caliente! If you like contemporary erotica with a hint of BDSM, Lena Matthews’ Loving Lola should appeal.
