Four women, all members of the same country club, visit La Bella Luna Spa each Friday. Ann is in her sixties, the wealthiest and the definite leader of the pack. She has outlived three husbands and currently has a most considerate and loyal lover. She also has an inoperable brain tumor.

She wants to leave her friends the best in life. She controls them to her death, and possibly beyond, in the fascinating and highly enjoyable book about female empowerment and living life to the fullest.

Leta Lou’s husband has just left her -- for a man. She doesn’t know what to tell her three nearly grown kids. And she doesn’t know what to do with the rest of her life.

Eazy’s been celibate for two decades. Her husband died shortly after their marriage. She’s controlled, no-nonsense, painting her toenails to coordinate with each day’s outfit. She’s well-known for not being able to keep a secret. Spreading gossip makes her feel important. Now she’s entrusted with two really big confidences.

Merry’s only child had been spirited away shortly after its birth by her husband. He had her treated in various institutions, telling everyone the baby had died and that she was having mental problems. He abused her, emotionally and physically. The others suspected, but did nothing. Now Merry has killed him.

Keeping this murder a secret is only part of Bobbie Cole’s thought-provoking novel. The three forty-something women are forced to forge remarkable bonds and discover their own strengths. There is sadness, silliness, laughter and revelation. We should all be lucky enough to gain the support and insight these Oklahoma socialites give each other. I loved the mature perspective and truly believable characters.

I highly recommend this one, especially for women past their twenties. And I am going to seek out the author’s many other titles. She is a talented storyteller.
