| Invictus Cross is an uncommunicative and undemonstrative wizard of Strange Castle, an interdimensional hidden retreat for magic users. He wants nothing more than to be left alone to his own devices.
Serena Blackstone is a mortal librarian, who is cataloging centuries of manuscripts in Strange Castle. She has a yen for closer relations with Invictus and, frustrated by his lack of interest, instigates a scheme to tempt his curiosity. They are cross-purposes; ying and yang, male and female, she wants him and he doesn't want to want her. Invictus finally agrees to Serena's proposition, but he does it on his terms. I felt that Ms. Aames leaves you waiting at the finish line, wondering if there will be a winner in this sexual battle or if it will finish out in a tie. Lusty Charms: Invictus continues to illustrate Ms. Aames' erotic vision but did not present her characters in vibrant light I have seen in the past. This short story left many questions unanswered. Perhaps this is a prelude for a longer tale in the future. I look forward to seeing more of Lani Aames writings in the future.
