| Allie Morgan believes crossing the ocean is the smartest move she has made when contacted to go to Scotland to expel a ghost. As a person who is able to see the dead, she finds the trip fascinating as the spirits begin making contact with her but trying to understand Gabe is going to be a bit more complicated. Gabe MacGowan is the proprietor of Odin's Thumb Inn and Pub. He wants to sell the place so he can start life again with his son, Jake, with something more grounded. In particular, he needs to escape the horrific ghosts that continue to drive his customers away, especially the spirit of his late wife, Kait. He sends for Allie to come to Scotland and oust the ghostly figures. While Allie works to solve the problem for Gabe, he finds he can entrust things to her, and wishes she would never leave. Can Allie help Gabe rebuild his broken heart and show him how to love again?
MacGowan's Ghost is a whirlwind of a read. Allie and Gabe are likeable characters, believable in all their actions. I immediately fell in love with this couple, not to mention little Jake. Their budding romance is beautifully told. When Allie tells Gabe her innermost secret, my heart dropped along with hers. I could share in the torment and trouble that plagued poor Gabe over his dead wife. The depiction of each of the characters is so real, it was as if they were in my living room. As for Kait, that left a ghostly feeling even in my room. The engaging players really touched a chord in my heart. Cindy Miles brilliantly pens a captivating story that I could not put down. She paints beautiful scenery and characters that became a part of this reader.
