Madison Murphy is a plus-sized gal who regrets the blind date she goes on after she ends up coughing up hairballs. That will teach her for getting drunk and having pity sex. Now she and her well-meaning but interfering neighbor and a sexy stranger are thrown into a paranormal turf-war. Can Max protect her from the marauding gang of shape shifters and can they have a future together?

This was a strikingly clever, whimsical paranormal read. Madison Murphy is a heroine readers will either love or hate and I'm still trying to decide which camp I fall into. One moment she had me chuckling at her sarcastic wit but in the next minute I was infuriated by her shallowness. I understand her anger at Harold, the man did turn her into a shifter but her main reason for disliking him was because of his physical appearance and I couldn't help but think, those with glass houses . . . Her reaction to the cabbie was similar and while the man's personality came across as lacking she based her opinion more on his lack of appeal in the looks department. I rather liked Max and found him to be charmingly sexy but I had a hard time believing he was genuinely attracted to the heroine. The bad guy was entertaining and I enjoyed the pace. If you like your shifter adventures laced with humor this is one to pick up.
