Book two is a continuation of the first book with a shift in focus to another of the couples. James and Lilly disappeared quite mysteriously after the incident in the graveyard. Hubert is understandably concerned about James and wishes to search for him. Lilly asks Maeve to stay with Hubert to prevent him from visiting James before he has become accustomed to his new life as a vampire. Maeve would never have believed she could fall in love. Hubert sees in Maeve the first woman he's ever met who can match his libido. When he suggests a trip to the country, Maeve agrees to go to Hubert's country castle and promises to fulfill his every fantasy. They expected to initiate all thirty-eight rooms. They didn't expect to be plagued by dangerous ghosts. It soon became evident that there would be no peace until they solved the mystery of an ancient but very tragic family secret.

This book is every bit as good as the first one. Hubert is very carnally driven so the sex is especially hot. There is also some real fun showing off the powers a vampire has in Ms. Dickson's manufactured world. There is quite a bit of tension and intrigue provided by a violent, evil ghost and plenty of angst when the age-old question of what to do about the vampire/human relationship dilemma arises. The added sexual pleasure and intensity ultimately decides that question, so obviously this book is even more sexually focused. The sex is delicious, the characters very well developed, since we are already fond of them from the first book, the adventure exciting and the plot well-paced and interesting. In my humble opinion, Maeve by Sarah Dickson is another triumphant success for Ms. Dickson. By taking the characters to a different location Ms. Dickson has made the story fresh and new, thereby conquering the struggle to make the second story as good as the first. I highly recommend this book to everyone who enjoys a great entertaining story.
