| Bud Richter drives an eighteen wheeler. He has an ex-wife, Julie and a son, Bud, who is twelve and a daughter, Lisa, sixteen. He likes to stop in at Koffee Kup Kaffee and get some fruit pies from Maddie Dietrich, wife of the proprietor, who bakes the best pies in Phillips County, Colorado. While the kids are on spring break, he takes vacation time to spend with them. He takes the pies to Julie, then the kids leave for a while, leaving Julie and him to commence with some bone-tiring action. Julie knows Bud is the only man that can satisfy her. He is her animal, her bear and she loves his visits. While visiting Julie, an old navy pal, Herbert Malik, shows up for a brief visit and they reminisce over their Navy days together. Bud learns that Herb is now in law enforcement, forensics with the FBI. Not long after their visit, Bud leaves on one of his runs. This time his adventures not only allow him to catch up with some of the women he encounters, along the way, but calls him into the police station questioned about a murder. The next thing Bud knows, he is using his talents to help the FBI find the real person behind the madness. Now if he could just get his family all knit together once again, things would tidy up just well.
Maggie Pie was certainly a story that caught me by storm. It was by far different and the plot with Bud was quite intriguing. In no time the reader feels like they are part of the town and a close friend of Bud’s. I enjoyed Bud and his adventures along the highway. The times he spent with Julie and their little escapades are quite interesting. One thing this story does not falter in, is action. It is fast-paced and keeps the reader entertained. If you wish to take a road trip then climb aboard on this fantastic read where nothing is slow, and everything is exciting along the way. Jasper McCutcheon pens a tale that keeps the reader entertained. He creates rich characters and always keeps the reader afloat.
