| When Kate Daniels is sent to a bar called the Steel Horse to investigate a disturbance, what she finds is truly disturbing. A hooded figure has killed a were with a disease, something that should be almost impossible. Something or someone very powerful is wreaking havoc in the streets of Atlanta and that person is as old as and very connected to Kate's father. At the same time Curran is pushing for a more permanent relationship with Kate. She can not commit to him totally until he knows her secret and it is not certain that either one of them will come out of this latest disaster alive.
I did not think that it was possible for this excellent series to get any better, but I am happy to say that I was wrong. Ms. Daniels has exceeded all of my expectations with this book. The combination of outstanding worldbuilding, memorable and unusual characters, and a totally gripping story make this book far and away the best story that I have read this year. I have always loved the Kate Daniels series, particularly the explosive, sensual, at times funny relationship between her and the Beast Lord. The plot is also loaded with action scenes, at times more than a bit violent, but always very exciting. All of the best and worst characters from the previous books are present with the addition of one very scary villain. I was on the edge of my seat in anticipation of what was going to happen next and whether or not my favorite characters were going to survive this one. This must read for fans of Kate Daniels and the Urban Fantasy genre.
