It is time for Magnus to settle down and create heirs for his vast estate. He is in search of the perfect woman and thinks he has found just the one. Mistress Swann is everything he could want and more, he longs for the time when he can marry and bed her. On his way home with plans for his future bride, he decides to stop at the lake for a swim and finds an intriguing woman bathing. Together they experience a sensual interlude, but the woman disappears without giving her name. Once home he realizes that his steward's relative Constance is the woman he slept with, and now he's questioning if he really has chosen the right woman.

Constance never expects that the man she gives herself to by the lake is actually the lord of the keep. Even more shocking is is the discovery that he is soon to be married and would like her help in making his home look more presentable for his future bride. However that's not all he wants from Constance, he can't rid himself of the memories of their one night and won't be happy until he has her in his bed again.

This book is really good, and if an adventure is what you are after you should definitely pick up this book. Magnus is strong willed and arrogant, he can be a little dense at times, but soon comes to realize his mistakes. Constance gives in a little too easily to a man who is marrying another woman and you almost feel sorry for Mistress Swann. A love triangle that is as confusing as it is fun, this story will keep you turning the pages.
