| The adventures continue in this seventh installment of the Georgian Historical Romance Maiden Lane with Richard and Rose. Having barely survived the last encounter with Richard's illegitimate son, Rose must be strong and clever. Pregnancy does not always lead itself to great escapes and fast maneuvers, but Rose finds a way to handle all that and still have tea with the ladies. Richard Kerre, Lord Strang the heir to the earldom of Southwood, must finally confront his own youth sins both in public and private. Unfortunately, death follows Richard and Rose and the mystery must be solved by them or they will be next on the list.
Maiden Lane: Richard and Rose is the seventh book in this series was my first by Lynne Connolly. The author does a good job of creating an enjoyable story. The characters are well developed and even though I had not read any of the previous books, I was still able to follow the main plot, understand the standing relationships and surrounding plots. The family dynamitic is a very interesting aspect of this story. The internal family struggles create both heroes and villains. All the English dressing eloquence, social demands and expectations of royalty adds both character and humor to this story. Rose and Richard's relationship is very strong and dripping with love. They are an interesting couple to follow in both the intimate friendship they have and the chemically explosive sexual companionship. They are a couple who enjoys each other's company and a couple with an active sex life. Their solid relationship and trust helps them endure all the inside and outside forces trying to pull them apart. This is a fast pace adventure and mystery Rose and Richard must solve. I recommend Maiden Lane as an enjoyable story which would be a good addition to your reading collection.
