Silas is a warlock that has been sacrificing young men off the street that have no connections to anyone. The same type men that Devin is trying to save. Silas uses Devin’s mate as a lure to destroy the man that stands in his way. Ryan is the human mate to Devin. He does not trust easily and suffers from nightmares from his last relationship. Just when it looks like he may accept Devin as his lover and a werewolf he is kidnapped and scheduled to be sacrificed. If Devin does not save him in time it will cost him his humanity if not his very life. Male of the species is a fascinating and exiting werewolf story filled with excitement and passion. This is a story that could be very sad but shows that through difficulty good things can come. Devin suffers from being turned out from his pack. He hurts because he is not accepted. But instead of grieving he joins with another to make sure others do not suffer from being alone in the world. He is a strong character that will earn the respect of the readers. Ryan’s history is horrific and it is amazing that he is even willing to risk being part of a relationship again. Devin and Ryan make a wonderful couple of characters that share an emotional connection as well as the physical desire. They share with the readers many hot sexy scenes where they celebrate their feelings. The dynamics of an alpha werewolf and his male mate is quite interesting in how they interpret some of the physical aspects of their relationship. The excitement builds with the fear of what is going to happen to Ryan at the hands of Silas, the sadistic warlock. It is a race against time that will keep the readers interested. For a different type of werewolf romance readers are encouraged to look for this fast paced highly imaginative story, The Male of the Species by Kate Steele.
