| Marek Dublecek is a young agent who works at The Agency. Thin and frail-looking, Marek is friendless. He looks at The Old Man ( head of The Agency) as his only family until he meets the night cook at The Agency's cafeteria. Tyrone Johnson has been feeling a reaction whenever Marek comes into the cafeteria. He does not even know what the skinny boy's name is, but he is definitely interested. After Marek is badly injured on a mission, Tyrone visits him in the medical unit and eventually brings Marek home. Caesar Medowes, an older agent, is also interested in Marek. He takes it upon himself to protect Marek as often as possible.
Marek and Tyrone is one of a trilogy of books about the men of the super-secret Agency, and I just LOVED it! The four main characters are deftly written and there are plenty of secondary characters to keep the plot moving smoothly. The Old Man figures prominently in this story and I was able to learn a bit more about him and The Agency. The Agency is a spy organization and there is a bit of violence, but I found it to be appropriate to the story. Although there is explicit sexual encounters (which I found very arousing!), there is also a great deal of tenderness between the three men. Tyrone and Caesar are both aware of Marek's discomfort with sentiment and friendship and they do their best to encourage him to express his love. The three men-Marek, Tyrone and Caesar are very different from each other, yet there were no bumps here. Caesar turned out differently than I expected and his situation made for a wonderful ending. Ms. Massa outdid herself-Marek and Tyrone is a beautifully poetic, sexually enticing and just plain wonderful book.
