Marjorie Beasley had been away for a year attending school. Her ultimate goal was to open a store and cafe in her hometown. First upon returning, she had planned to marry her childhood sweetheart, Milton. However, the situation was not exactly as she had planned. When she returned home, Douglas, Milton’s brother, traveled with her to assure her safety. Milton had spent his year building his veterinary practice. He had a very useful assistant, Marjorie’s sister Sandra.

Douglas had loved Marjorie for a couple of years and was frustrated that she insisted she was going to marry Miltonwho was too busy with his practice to even spend the day with her when she first came home. The two brothers argued continuously because of the way Milton treated both Sandra and Marjorie. The jealousy between Marjorie and Sandra was evident to everyone. While this was going on, other situations which arose during the first book were still unsettled.

Linda Lattimer is an amazing author. She has the ability to continuously introduce new characters and still keep the plot strong and the storyline clear. I have never read anyone who has done a better work with so many characters and kept the action quickly moving. These characters, while growing in number, remain strong, viable parts of this amazing story. She has an amazing capacity to expand her focus group while allowing some to grow to new heights.

There are so many important facets to Lattimer’s writing which I would like to point out. However, I’m afraid that I will give part of the story away if I do. I know that she totally freaked me out with the ending of this part of the series! I certainly hope it won’t be too long before book three is forthcoming. I love series. This is one of the very best I have ever read. Lattimer’s writing skill is unmistakable. If the series keeps getting better, I might not be able to find enough accolades for this writer. I so highly recommend this book. She quickly is moving to the top of my auto-read list.
