Teake has had a century's training as a Green Witch and a few centuries more of experience. His new lover Sebastian is a vampire, knows nothing about witchcraft, and is kind of uncomfortable living in a world where everyone is telepathic. However, his love for Teake is so intense that he wants to bind himself to him in ceremony, and for Teake he will suffer all the hindrances. Their magical link provides Sebastian with a connection to Mother Nature, but he needs to learn the discipline that comes through practice and experience.

To bring Sebastian back to life after his lover's betrayal, Sebastian had become part-human, and now shares a soul with Teake. Now Sebastian is determined to gift Teake with the right to choose Sebastian's new name at his Naming Day, a right which traditionally goes to the teacher. Teake is concerned that Sebastian's intention to have his Naming Day among his vampire clan might mean that his lover plans to leave him, but Sebastian has something much more far-reaching in mind.

Kira Stone has a deft hand in weaving together vampire and witch lore. Her portrayal of the strong bonds, the love and affection, and the romance between Sebastian and Teake is heartwarming to behold. In addition, secondary characters are well-delineated, and the magical aspects are appealing, allowing the reader's quite willing suspension of disbelief. A Marked Man is a welcome new installment to the much-beloved Vampire Magic series.
