| Leia is considered a hero after saving an important person, and is given a job as a body guard for some rich, highly placed people as a reward. There's a problem with the reward though, it's boring her out of her mind. When she is offered the chance to rescue and send back certain cargo that was brought forward in time illegally, she jumps at the chance. The thing is, the "cargo" is a primitive earth man brought forward to her time illegally. When she meets the cargo, she knows that she is a goner, because he's one of the most handsome men she'd ever seen and she is wildly attracted to him.
When Jake Marshall wakes up in a cell, he's with his partner and friend Matt. They are both cops and can't remember how they got to where they are now. He considers himself ugly next to Matt, because Matt is charming and handsome, able to get whatever woman he wants. He is in for a shock when some women show up to rescue them and it's him that seems to attract all the attention. Then he learns that he is a valuable piece of property that Leia wants to return before he gets stolen or sold. It gets even more confusing when he finds himself falling for his rescuer... The two central characters in this book couldn't be better matched, and I loved both of them. There's nothing I like better than a strong female lead, and Leia certainly fits the bill. She's definitely hero material, calm under pressure, and more than capable of taking care of herself. Jake is a protective man, but doesn't overwhelm and make Leia seem less than she is during the story. Leia reacts well when Jake tries to protect her too, not like a spoiled brat that doesn't get her way. It's a great story, and the characters strike plenty of sparks from each other along the way. It's definitely one that I will put on my keeper shelf, and well worth the 5 heart rating!
