| Mauve O'Connor is one of Aztec Security's best agents. A beautiful redhead, she is very different from her five extremely domesticated sisters in New Jersey and is determined to be nothing like them. The only male to really affect her is her fellow agent Yancy Adams. They had one night together before he disappeared on a mission to infiltrate Evan Grayson's organization. When he turns up alive and well, she is happy and very angry that he never found a way to tell anyone he was still alive. No one at Aztec is sure he can be trusted, especially when Grayson's men turn up in South Beach. Paired together, Yancy and Mauve must watch a local woman who has attracted the attention of one of Grayson's men. Yancy has a very up close and personal way of surveillance, and Mauve tries not to care.
This Aztec Security tale is even more action packed than the last one. Mauve and Yancy have a very volatile relationship. Neither is really interested in a relationship, but are very drawn to each other no matter how hard they fight it. It is even obvious to their mark, Cadence. The two dodge bullets as well as their attraction to each other. Mauve was hurt by Yancy's lack of communication while missing and Yancy is haunted by nightmares from when he was in the service. Ava and Thorn are in this tale also and we meet some more members of the agency. I really liked Mauve, she is hot tempered and spunky. Yancy is tall, dark, and handsome and uses his looks to his advantage. I felt a little sorry for Cadence, who seems to have been caught in the middle of a situation that she has no control over, but she handles the situation very well. Yancy's loyalty issues are a constant theme resolved at the end of the story. I really enjoyed this one and read it from beginning to end in one sitting.
