He is dedicated to protecting his people but at the same time he vows to protect Jessi from the very real dangers in his community. He is drawn to her but on a much deeper level than Jessi realizes. Against her better judgment Jessi wants Drayden. But she will brave any danger to find a crazy killer, leaving no stone unturned, even if it costs her the love of her life.
Maslow's Needs is excellent with a gritty and dangerous feeling to thrill lovers of dark vampire heroes. It's a heady blend of sexual heat and horror. In fact it's hard to decide if the murder mystery or the forbidden love story provides the most chills! Ms. Gilmore takes us on a walk through the sometimes deadly, decadent underground Goth world where witches and vampires may be real. The action is fast paced, keeping your attention as the clues unfold. The love story is riveting. Drayden is very compelling, a mysterious and dominant lover who has met his soul mate in Jessi. He is also touchingly vulnerable as revealed in his wish to make allowances for his brother. She is not from his world and although her naiveté about what lies behind the Goth club scene may seem to make her easy prey, she's no pushover! That sassy spark both intrigues and frustrates Drayden. The sexual tension will raise your blood pressure and it builds continually. Every time Jessi and Drayden get together the eroticism burns up the pages. From the frightening Nolan to the drop-dead sexy rogue Konstantinos and the cameo by Aunt Mae the secondary characters add depth. Ms Gilmore obviously did her research and the result adds an elegant realism. Even the epilogue reveals a new facet to the story. Maslow's Needs was well crafted and exciting in every way! I highly recommend it!
