| Arianne Deveraux was visiting her aunt and uncle in Paris in June, 1788. She met a man at a ball. Before the night was completed, Julian Chievres, Marquis of Amiens, had stolen kisses from Arianne more than once. Her life would never be the same. She had no way of knowing she would ever see her one true love again. Five years later, she still lived with her parents at Whispering Myrtles Plantation near New Orleans, Louisiana. Her greatest joy was riding her horse Zinfandel. It was on one such ride that Julian came upon the beautiful woman whose memory he had never forgotten.
Julian was thrilled to find Arianne was single. He intended to court her and get to know her better. Disappointment didn’t come close to how he felt when he found she had already been betrothed though not yet publically. He should stay away from her but it became more difficult every day he was around her. Julian felt all was not right with the relationship between his ‘petit fairy’ and this Pierre. He had no proof so was forced to keep his mouth shut. His title was useless in his new homeland. Ms. Kristi Ahlers is a new author to me. I really enjoyed this book. The plot was so very interesting. There were no dull or lagging parts of the book. The characters were solid, ethical and worthy individuals—well, most of them anyway. I got so deeply engrossed in the storyline that I didn’t want to put the book down. I was so anxious to see the outcome but I was disappointed when it was over. Could there possibly be a sequel in the future? The information doesn’t promise one, but I’d love to ‘keep in touch’ with this loving couple. This book was emotionally charged. I was riveted by this storyline. The lifetime friendship between the two who were to wed proved to be quiet captivating even through the scary suitor situations and the impossible impasses. I was definitely not bored. The sensuality was beautifully written and tasteful. Obviously I loved the book.
