| Tessa is captured from her ship by the notorious Kirrillian raiders, and knows that her time is short. Kirrilian’s are known for taking women for slaves and abusing them, and she doesn’t want to be one of the many who end up that way. When her new owner Chaos tries to master her, she has a few things up her sleeve that he doesn’t expect, and is surprised to find herself enjoying him at times.
Chaos is surprised and attracted when his captive shows pluck that none of the other women ever had. She actually seems to enjoy his attentions at times and fights him at others, which is confusing. He finds himself falling for her… but is that exactly what she’s waiting for? When I picked this up, I thought it was going to be a great read. After all, it has all the things I normally love in a book, plucky heroine that doesn’t back down, Alpha male, and a situation that looked explosive. Unfortunately, the story line didn’t appear to pull things together. The writing felt choppy and unorganized, Tessa could have been a great character but not consistent. For example, one minute she wanted to dominate Chaos, the next she claimed she liked being dominated and it felt like it was jumping around. Chaos is the same way, initially an Alpha male, he ended up seeming immature and then Alpha again. The second story of them rescuing her son was distracting; they should have stuck to the original story line. Maybe that could have been another book in a series or something. All that being said, I did like the story and the characters, it had a lot of promise and was a great idea.
