I think a word of caution isn’t remiss here. If you want a light, spanking kind of fun BDSM book, this probably is heavier than you might want. There are some parts that may be offensive. That said, Mastering Marissa is a well written story of domination and submission as a culture in its purest form. It’s about people who live it every day in every aspect of their lives, public and private. Intermingled with the BDSM Ms. Kade weaves an erotic tale of two people falling in love. I liked this novel because it’s well written and the characters come alive with the author’s words. This is much more than just a book with a lot of BDSM sex, it’s one with a good story, strong people becoming even stronger with one another, with rites of passage, rituals and with family.
