Small town, USA, actually Russellton, Montana, with its population of 1200, was certainly not ready for Beth Fenton to come back home after all the years living in California. “The Shamrock,” itself, was a bed and breakfast that was almost like coming home; it was the historical home of her best friend and the “love of her life,” Finnian Quaid. Always considered a little eccentric, Elfie (as the town knew her because of her elf-like size) was right “on target” with her vintage clothing. She worked at a museum and, up for promotion; she was determined to return to the peacefulness of her hometown so that she could produce something which would assure her advancement in her career.

Finnian, who was considering running for political office, had been told to get “engaged” by his potential backers; he immediately thought Beth would be perfect. Soon though, he wasn’t so positive—seemed everything she did caused problems for him. And the problems just kept piling up! Finn got lots of attention, but none of it the kind he needed to aspire for political office. At first, she just struck him as perfectly strange! Then she just seemed perfect, for him! Of course, that was before her sister showed up.

Ms. Layla Chase has written a lighthearted book which will make her readers smile, laugh out loud and yes, even shed some tears. At least that’s the way it affected me! She has a myriad of events happening at once; however, nothing gets lost in the telling and nothing is left unfinished. It is incredible that she was able to tell this tale without omitting at least one necessary element, but she did! This is a remarkable work and Ms. Chase should, and can, feel elated that she has done such an awe-inspiring work of art!
