Given the choice to starve to death or seek work in a brothel, Becky White considers her choices all but dreadful. Not only she is poor and alone but she is with child. While standing on the creek bank making her final decision, she decides to go ask the owners will they accept her in the brothel house in her condition. Unfortunately the ground underneath her gives way and she lands in raging floodwaters. Fate steps in by the name of Garrick and immediately pulls her to safety. When her hero insists on marrying her because of her condition, she doesn’t know if this is a path she wishes to embark either.

Garrick Swenson sees a woman drowning in the raging waters and rescues her. When he thinks she might be one of Angel’s girls he takes her to the doctor only to overhear of her situation. He decides to help Becky and proposes a marriage of convenience. He promises to always protect her. She is a little delicate flower and he a man of action. Can they find contentment in their marriage with her pregnancy swings and his past?

MEADOWLARK is a story that really impacts the reader. It is full of romance and heart-stirring emotion that draws you into the story. The relationship of Garrick and Becky is to die for. The secondary characters blend in completely with the story and make this an intoxicating read that practically takes the breath away. This story is thoroughly engaging. I cheered for the couple all the way through the book.

Ms. Lampman creates a stirring story that is absolutely skillful and triggers so much emotional impact that the reader can’t help but be immersed in every single page. Her exquisite flare for writing is superb. She produces characters and turns them and the scenery into real picturesque beauty and makes them a part of the real world. MEADOWLARK is a treasure.
