Jessica McGovern relocated to Green Bay, Wisconsin, after the arrest and conviction of her ex-husband in the death of their son. She and her ornery cat lived next door to a cop named Garrett Jamison. The cat kept Garrett awake and he stayed mad about it. Jessica and Garrett argued every time their paths crossed. That conflict quickly became chemistry. It seemed the entire Jamison family was more aware of the feelings between these two than the couple was themselves.

Jessica was a loner and kept her past buried. That was, until her ex-husband was released from prison early and decided to find his “wife.” Meanwhile, Garrett had requested a leave of absence from the police force while he tried to put his life back together. This was because of circumstances which occurred in book one of the series. There’s Only Been You told the story of Jamison sister Sara and her son, Ethan. Both were jeopardized by Garrett’s actions on the Force. He loved them so much he wasn’t sure he would be able to return to his job.

Donna Marie Rogers has once again captured her intended audience with her writing style. This second book in the “Jamison series” is well written with lots of drama and tension. I usually do not like suspenseful books but this one captured my attention from the beginning and never let up. Her characters were volatile as well as explosive. The supporting characters were well developed. The plot kept me spellbound throughout the entire book.

The sensuality of the couple was well written and the sex sizzled. However, the conflict soared. Misunderstanding abounded. There were absolutely no slow points in this storyline. Just when it would seem to calm down, another twist would emerge. Rogers has the ability to keep her readers on the edge of our seats. This one is definitely another page turner.

I highly recommend this book, as well as the first in the series, to anyone who likes action and romance with unique endings. I anticipate the third book in the series. The series will make my keeper list.
