Brand did not want a wife. Did not need a wife. But he was going to get one. This little fact, however, did not stop him from entertaining the little vixen wandering the woods the eve of his wedding. Yet as the day wore onward and his bride appeared heavily veiled, Brand knew he could not live without the other woman. So he planned to return home with a bride and a mistress. That is, he would if he could find her.

Free to make her own way under her father’s roof, Avalon loved to race and hunt. She had no use for the typical women’s chores. Even so, her cousin, Althea, tried to give Avalon instruction so she would be able to run her own household one day. This was done to no avail and Avalon happily went back to her own pursuits. But her wedding day quickly approached and Avalon left her home for the last time without a groom in sight. Under normal circumstances Avalon would have been fine. But her horse dumped her to the ground and bolted toward home. Even worse, a shaggy man wanted her undivided attention. And Avalon could not do anything but allow herself the pleasure.

Two tales in one, Hurn provides a heat wave every step of the way. While Avalon struggles to comprehend married life, Althea is overjoyed to have a man at her side once again. Now this story is set during medieval times. However, the setting, scenery and background description places the characters more in a contemporary limelight. MEDIEVAL MISCHIEF does have the down sides but it is still quite enjoyable and worthy of a quick look.
