Helen Schneider is not sure where life will take her. She doesn’t like it when someone makes fun of her Nanny’s séances, especially when she gets inspiration from her grandmother. Billy Mackey didn’t mean anything by his remark but it still stung Helen. It wasn’t the first time she had a feeling or sensed things. Her nanny was always there with answers for her. She told Helen the mind was sometimes like a box of magic tricks. If one believed hard enough, it was like it was coming real. As Helen grows older and learns more about mediums, and voices of the dead, she never thought her powers could help the deceased. Even as Billy matures, he still doesn’t understand the talent that Helen has mastered but it is something that she doesn’t wish to give up. Then Billy enlists into the Army Air Force changing everything for Helen, but not as much when the Army calls upon Helen’s help with her psychic abilities. Living during wartime is hard for everyone but it appears it touches Helen right to the core of her heart.

I never imagined once I started reading The Medium, that it would be so compelling. This book grabs hold and sticks like a magnet. There were moments that tore into my heart. When Billy tells Helen he is enlisting in the Army Air Force, I could just visualize the expressions layering on her face. Noëlle Sickels instills intrigue, lots of paranormal activities and romance into this riveting page-turner. It has all the right elements that keep the reader spellbound. Exceptionally well-crafted, this highly recommended read shouldn’t be missed. Even if one is skeptical of the paranormal this is still a fascinating story. There were certain moments that really cut to the heart in this uplifting read.
