| Melanie Triton is a plain slightly plump woman. She feels even more invisible next to her glamorous and very nice step-sister Venus. She works for Venus at her exclusive spa and despite her sister’s efforts; Melanie prefers to stay at home with her favorite book rather than party. She relates to the main character in the story Wizard’s Heart and prefers to live in that world rather than the real one. She meets a handsome stranger in a coffee shop and visits a very interesting boutique. The purchase of a beautiful mask starts a chain of events that will change her life.
I loved this story. The author does a very creative job of blending the heroine’s life with the narrative of her favorite book. Sometimes it is hard to tell where one starts and the other ends, just like the main character’s perspective. So many people have a favorite book and get lost in the story imagining themselves as the heroine, but Melanie really does accomplish this. The author has created memorable characters, a wonderful and unique love story (with some pretty steamy love scenes), and a concept that is truly different and a cut above the average. I also loved that the beautiful stepsister is as lovely inside as she is on the outside and that the plain girl still gets the guy. Honor is the perfect hero in this wonderful Beauty and the Beast tale.
