| Someone's been passing important information from Sanctuary to a pharmaceutical company. Ria Rodrquez has been given the task of finding the leak. She just doesn't know the dangers she'll face in this particular assignment.
Mercury Warrant is one of the finest breeds ever made and according to his file, his mate was killed years ago. In the years since, he's had to come to terms with the fact that he won't know true bonding because of her loss. He never thought to find love but that's just what he finds when he's assigned to protect Ria on her mission. A woman with a lot of secrets, Ria doesn't want to fall for Mercury and she fears what her latest assignment will reveal. Especially when Mercury's mate, thought long dead, returns with a dark purpose... Mercury's War is a fine addition to Ms. Leigh's series of Breeds stories. Characterization is one of her strong points and the hero and heroine here don't disappoint. Her heroine is a complex woman who is immensely likeable and flawed to make her sympathetic. Her hero, Mercury, is a typical alpha male breed. He's not different enough from the other males in this series to be particularly memorable but he's got everything fans of this series expect. He's larger than life, deeply emotional, and animal when he needs to be. The story itself was well crafted and the pacing made it very enjoyable to read. Enhanced with entertaining dialogue, strong secondary characters, and an effective twist at the end, Mercury's War is a story that any fan of the romance genre would enjoy -- even if they are new to the series. Recommended.
