| Melina Markowitz carries messages and acts as a go-between for various paranormal groups. This is on top of her day job which pays the bills. When a delivery goes wrong and the package she was supposed to deliver is stolen, Melina finds herself in a lot of trouble; supernaturals don't like excuses. Plus the stolen talisman appears to have the power to control strange Chinese vampires who are killing rival gang members to incite a gang war. Cop, Ted Goodnight, is determined to stop the increase in gang violence in his area and every time he turns around, pretty Melina seems to be right in the middle of his investigation. How can Melina get Ted to help her; she can't clue him into the paranormal world that he knows nothing about without him thinking she is nuts?
I love finding a new series that delivers what is promised! I also like new paranormal characters and a messenger for the supernatural is very creative. Melina is a little whinny but she is somewhat justified. The supernatural community asks a lot of her with no compensation and no way to say no. Ted is a hulky, but clueless counter part for Melina and there are some great humorous problems with their interactions! Eileen Rendahl is a new author for me but I intend to go find some of her other work and read them too. She delivers a fun and interesting plot, characters that are humorous, and creative solutions to her characters issues. I hope there will be more books like Don't Kill the Messenger; I love to read a sequel.
